Safimeal Privacy Policy (Closed Beta)

Hello and welcome to the Safimeal Beta!
Transparency is at the heart of our mission. Whether it’s the composition of your food or your personal data, we want everything to be crystal clear for you.

This Privacy Policy describes how Safimeal Solutions S.A.R.L A.U (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your data when you use our website (https://safimeal.ma) and our application during this closed beta phase.


1. Who is responsible for your data?

In brief: The Moroccan company Safimeal Solutions S.A.R.L A.U is the data controller of your information.

2. What data do we collect?

In brief: We only collect what is strictly necessary to run the beta features (scanning, inventory, shopping list). Sensitive data (like your allergies) is only collected with your explicit consent.

To provide the beta services, we collect:

  • Account Information: Email address, phone number, and name (optional).
  • App Usage Data: The products you scan, the items you add to your digital inventory, and your shopping lists.
  • Sensitive Health Data: Your allergies or intolerances. Because this data is highly personal, we only collect it if you check the explicit consent box (opt-in) during registration.
  • Technical Data: Device ID and crash reports to help us fix bugs during this beta phase.

3. Why do we use your data?

In brief: Your data is used exclusively to make the core features work: warning you about allergens, tracking expirations, and managing your shopping.

We process your data for the following specific purposes:

  1. Account Management: To create and secure your user profile.
  2. Health Safety (Scanning): To alert you immediately if a scanned product contains an allergen you have identified in your profile.
  3. Food Waste Reduction (Inventory): To track your food expiration dates and send you timely reminders.
  4. Shopping Management: To allow you to easily create and manage your shopping lists.

4. Who do we share your data with?

In brief: We never sell your data. We only share it with two trusted technical partners for secure hosting in Europe.

To ensure the app functions securely, your data is hosted on European servers by subcontractors subject to strict data protection regulations (GDPR):

  • Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany/Finland): For hosting our main database and API.
  • Google Cloud EMEA Ltd (Ireland/Germany): For secure data storage and backend services.

Note: These international transfers have been submitted for authorization to the CNDP and are governed by strict Data Processing Agreements (DPA).

5. How long do we keep your data?

In brief: We keep your data as long as you use Safimeal. Health data is strictly deleted within 30 days if you leave us.

  • Usage and Technical Data: Kept for the life of the account + up to 12 months after deletion.
  • Sensitive Health Data: Strictly deleted immediately or within a maximum of 30 days after your account is closed or if you withdraw your consent.

6. How do we protect your data?

In brief: We use industry-leading security standards: all your data is encrypted and access is strictly limited.

  • Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest on our servers (AES-256).
  • Access Control: Only strictly authorized Safimeal personnel can access our systems, using two-factor authentication (2FA).

7. What are your rights?

In brief: You have total control. You can access, modify, or delete your data at any time.

Under Moroccan Law 09-08, you have the following rights:

  • Right of Access & Portability: To obtain a copy of your data.
  • Right of Rectification: To correct inaccurate information.
  • Right of Erasure: To request the total deletion of your information.
  • Right of Opposition & Withdrawal of Consent: To refuse specific processing or withdraw your consent (especially for health data) at any time.

In case of concerns, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNDP (www.cndp.ma).
